about Evil Nine

由 Tom Beaufoy 與 Pat Pardy 組成的 Evil Nine，於1998年初試聲啼時，便迅速受到英國傳奇舞曲廠牌 Marine Parade 的主理人 Adam Freeland 的強烈關注並成為旗下當家團體。爾後 Evil Nine所推出的每首作品都突顯出他們的充滿改革性的創意與獨特意念，首張專輯You Can Be Special Too獲選為Breakspoll、DJ Magazine年度最佳專輯。




他們拒絕盲目地順應市場的流行。始終包有獨特的音樂觀念，眾多不同領域的DJ與製作人便紛紛指明邀請他們來打造混音單曲版本，眾多的混音裡最廣為人知的應該就是他們為樂團ILS打造的單曲Music以及為UNKLE安可樂團炮製的 Reign REMIX。他們的創作靈感受到了各種不同類型的音樂所啟發，包含有 hip hop, punk, deep house, garage rock, House, techno且遊走於Italo-Disco,Electro,Break,Indie Dance,New Wave,French Touch以及流行音樂的獨特選曲涵養。擅於利用原創與極簡又動人純粹的音樂和節奏來打動人心。2005～08年陸續發行混音特輯Y4K Evil Nine、FABRICLIVE.28獲得極大的迴響以及眾多傳媒的最高評價與推薦，也讓他們站上英國跳舞圈的派對首選，包括知名俱樂部Febric/MOS/Glastonbury/Exit /Snowside/Electron/Rocket等大型音樂祭都是他們每年的必經之地。

2006年好萊塢電影東京甩尾也收錄了Evil Nine專輯內的歌曲Restless於電影之中，在馬不停蹄的表演之後，


2008年末，Evil Nine推出了他們成軍以來的最具歷史性的大碟They Live!專輯，歌曲與MV皆以戲謔的方式透露出現代人處於社會的無奈心境且諷刺性的意諭比活屍還殘酷的人類們應該徹底反思回歸的獨特觀點以及幽默且富有寓意的歌詞表達，讓他們再次登上全球傳媒的熱烈注目焦點與許多一線DJ的熱播首選。 在漫長的巡迴演出之後,2010年開始他們開始自組FOR LOVERS唱片品牌並建構出更成熟內斂的EVIIL NINE新型態,結合復古的80/90氣息但又把聲音的層次感強化到充滿未來感的全新曲種,

Tom Beaufoy and Pat Pardy first combined skills in 1998 and were quickly identified as a quality DJ/Producer duo by Adam Freeland who signed them to his Marine Parade label. Since then each of their releases have distinguished Evil Nine as innovators who refuse to blend into the scene, deriving their musical flavour from multiple influences including post punk, italo-disco, electro, classic power ballads, techno, krautrock, yacht rock, hip hop & 80's electronic movie soundtracks .

After various single releases Evil Nine's debut album You Can Be Special Too was released to critical acclaim in 2005 ("Just killer tracks," VICE; "Assertive, chunky, majestic," The Independent; "The Beastie Boys would be proud," Q; "Best album I've heard in a long time," Pete Tong; "Album of the year by the hottest producers," Eddie Temple Morris). In addition to their own material, Evil Nine have also released for the renowned Fabric Live mix series and held a residency at the club of the same name and at Audio in Brighton.
2008 saw the duo release They Live!, featuring pounding tracks filtered through unexpected influences spanning '80s cock rock, The Cure, early Prince, krautrockers Cluster, Can and Tangerine Dream, vintage noise punkers Suicide and Black Flag, and newer sonic saboteurs TV On The Radio and Queens of the Stone Age. As such, "Behemoth" welds Timbaland rhythms to Black Sabbath heaviness; "Feed On You" comes out somewhere between Beverly Hills Cop and a phantom death march; "The Wait," meanwhile, incorporates the experiments of Paul Lansky, the early synth pioneer whom Radiohead sampled on "Idioteque."

After the success of 2009's 'The Power EP' and fresh from remixing Temper Trap, Spankrock, Alex Metric and Don Diablo, Evil Nine started 2010 with a new club single, 'No Manners' featuring blogger's favourite, the South African rapper Spoek Mathambo. Since then the boys have launched their own record label, FOR LOVERS, and have already received huge praise for its first three releases, Ultimo, Stay Up and Auto.
