E:
Hi NinetyniNe!!

N:
Hi, E for Electro
如果不是在作Ninetynine的東西, 就是在作NNPP(Ninetynine plus Pierce)的東西。

N:
Mr Oizo – Cheetas (Missy Elliot Bootleg)
Zombie Nation – Squeek
El Coco – Cocomotion
Mouzon’s Electric Band – Everybody Get Down
Ryuichi Sakomoto – Revenge

E:
Hi NinetyniNe, Could you tell us about your everyday life when your not touring or playing at shows? And how did you get the name NinetyniNe? Is there a special meaning behind it?

N:
Hey E for Electro Team, I hope you’re well

In my every day life, I am a software engineer. I program for a living. It’s actually pretty cool, I’m a big nerd about it. Other than my day job, I spend a large amount of time producing and working on future projects. There doesn’t go a day where I don’t work on music. If I am not working on my ninetynine project, I am working on NNPP (Ninetynine plus Pierce).

The name ninetynine comes from one of my favourite tracks, Cassius – 1999. When that song first came out, I was hooked. I think I may have listened to that song 2000 times.

E:

Being a Canadian music producer, how did you succeed the French scene and join French record label?

N:

Honestly, every since Daft Punk’s homework has come out, I’ve always gravitated towards the French scene. I was always reading the notes inside of cd booklets to see who Daft punk would give a shout out to, then go listen to their music, and keep on following the trail of french badasses. By the time 2002 came around, I was listening to entire crews of musicians from france, so I guess the sound that I made and portrayed in my music took that form. The rest is history. The french love my stuff.

E:
About your music, what is the conceptual idea you’re trying to express?

N:
Good question. The general feeling I want to express is release. I hope when someone hears one of my tracks, they just lose all self control and feel the need to head bang, or dance till they can’t dance anymore. If they can see my love for music in the small things I do, I have accomplished my job.

E:
For your fans in Taiwan, please name 5 tunes that you like the most recently?

N:
These might be a bit dated, or not even electro I tend to stay away from the scene for the most part so I can keep making unique stuff, and not just stuff that is currently ‘in’.

E:
What are your gig and release plans?
N:
In addition to this mini asia tour, 2011 should be a huge year. European tour in March 2011 to promote the new Ninetynine EP/NNPP EP. This tour should cover Belgium, France, London, and Germany.

August 2011, I want to head back out to asia to show some love and throw down for some of my favourite fans.

AS far as releases go, like I said, March 2011 2 EPs with my name on it. I’m not sure on whether it’s going to be released on Digithype yet or not, but the new Ninetynine EP will be released... I’m thinking it will be called Revenge.

In addition to that, Dominic Pierce and myself want to release an NNPP ep to hopefully melt dancefloors across the globe. It will be a big month.

After the originals get out, I am going to kick it into remix mode, and I look to work with some fairly high profile individuals to keep promoting ninetynine, and good electro.

E:
It must have been epic playing with Flght Klub and Shinichi Osawa in Belgium. Could you share us some interesting stories?

N:
Oh yes, Shinichi Osawa was a lot of fun to play with. The club was massive, lots of people were going crazy. I played a really unique set; every track was an edit/remix I had done, and the response was insane. It felt good to get up there and play with some big names like Q.G. and Shinichi Osawa. I was this quiet canadian that most people didn’t know about, and when I played my set, people were blown away.

As for cool funny stories, I don’t really have any. It was pretty relaxed other than my entourage getting vomited on from like, 3 floors above. It was gross. And hilarious for me, because it didn’t happen to me. Good times.

E:
What would you like to say to your fans and clubbers in Taiwan?

N:
I love you all, and love the support you give. Share the music with your friends, and get ready to dance to some crazy disco edits, electro, and classic french house. Taiwan, here I come.
